![]() I personally am not into the huge ARG style thing going on. ![]() This has sparked off an in game (conducted by irl players) archeology thing where through real world cross referencing and finding details just in how the world was put together people have more or less put together an idea of some of the stuff that has happened in other games. And there's a single set of armor in the game that references a race that isn't in the game itself nor any past games. Aztec or maybe Inca buildings that are just kind of there. The southern jungle area for example has a bunch of ruins and old. The generic areas are kind of samey but with a little help from the item descriptions there's a stupid amount of backstory to be discovered in the environmental design. People who want to be rewarded for exploringĪnd people for whom exploring is the reward I think there are two types of people in this regard. Sorry Subnautica, I’ll always wish I loved you I mostly made this post to finally, I don’t know, give up I suppose. I swam around, built some stuff, saw some neat things, and got bored after really trying for about an hour.Įverything here should make for a fantastic experience, but for some reason it just never clicked with me. I tried looking up a guide but that ruined any sense of exploration I was feeling. Honestly I wish I knew what the problem was. I figured “hey, why not try Subnautica again?” I tried playing Hollow Knight a few times, never liked it, then really took my time with it and now it’s one of my most recommended games. I sat down this week and told myself “you’re gonna play this game and figure out why people like it.” I’ve done this with a few games, the most recent being Hollow Knight. That, coupled with the rave reviews everyone gives it, always made me feel like there was something I was missing. A game about swimming around with some survival elements (I played it on the mode where I don’t need to manage food or water because I’m not THAT into survival games) sounds like it would be great. I adore No Man’s Sky and I have had fun playing other survival games with my friends like Don’t Starveįor some reason, Subnautica just doesn’t land for me. I love swimming around and seeing what’s down there.
